Globe Occy Bamboo - review

Il primo longboard per un accanito di street, mio fratello vi da le sue opinioni riguardo una tavola ideale per chi comincia.

"Premettendo che mi sono sempre cimentato nello street e che forse non ho le appropriate nozioni per descrivere i caratteri del mio long, proverò comunque a presentarvelo!

OccyBamboo fa parte della nuova serie di tavole della Globe. Ho deciso di acquistarla perché è un modello accessibile e di buona qualità. La Occy non ha grandi dimensioni (misura solo 9" x 36") e a differenza di quanto mi aspettassi è robusta e abbastanza rigida. Ciò non mi allontana del tutto dal feeling delle tavole da street ma con ruote da 70 mm 83a, truck Slant RKP da 150 mm (con grafica a tema) e cuscinetti Globe abec 7 si guadagna molta fluidità e stabilità nel ride, riuscendo ancora a divertirsi grazie alla reattività dei truck non troppo larghi, al wheelbase contenuto e al piccolo kick.

Le ruote dai bordi arrotondati la rendono estremamente divertente per qualche slide in discesa.

D'altro canto il cleargrip non mi convince: da maniaco dei trick credo che sia sempre meglio avere un bel foglio di grip applicato (cosa che potrò sempre fare quando ne avrò bisogno), soprattutto quando il concave non è estremo.

Piccola chicca è la parte superiore del deck fosforescente che sorprendentemente ti aiuta a ritrovare la tua tavola anche nelle serate alcoliche più buie!"

The first longboard for a street skater is a strange feeling, that's why my brother wrote down few lines about the right deck for a beginner in longboarding.
"OccyBamboo comes out from the bamboo Globe series. I decided to buy it because it's a good quality sold at an affordable price. It hasn't huge size (only 9" x 36") and despiting my expetation it's solid and quite stiff. I still feel then some street skateing feature but the 70mm 83a wheels, 150mm RKP Slant trucks (with coordinated texture graphic) and abec7 Globe bearings let me feel a better ride flow and a great stability on the lines, and I still can have much fun thanks to the trucks reactivity (shorter than the most common 180mm), the short wheelbase and the usefull kicktail
The rounded lip wheels make easy and smooth some stand slide at light downhill
On the other hand, I'm not a cleargrip lover: as a tricks maniac on my street deck I think a good black grip sheet on the top is always the best expetially when the concave is not so aggressive.

Surprise, the top of the deck glows in the dark helping you finding your deck even during the darkest alcoholic and commuting nights!"
